Rip Van Winkle
Last week, I have read a penguin reader about title Rip Van Winkle. The story is about a man his name was Rip Van Winkle. He is a farmer but he didn’t like working, he like going to the bar and talking to the man. Rip had a wife, a daughter, and a son. His wife was always angry because Rip didn’t work. Rip doesn’t want to see his wife again so he goes to the mountain with his dog names wolf. When he and his dog in the mountain suddenly he meet an old man who have very long and white beard. They give Rip a drink from the barrel. After he drinks the water he wants to sleep so he closes his eyes. When he open his eyes the old men is missing and also his dog, so he came back to the town and he is so surprised because the town is changing, he don’t know people there. He ask them and they tell him that all people here was dead in the war. Suddenly he saw a young woman and he ask about her father and the young woman said her father names is Rip, so he meet again with her daughter, and his daughter said that he is missing about twenty years, but he don’t know anything. So Rip lived with his daughter and her family. I think I like the chapter when rip meet his daughter after he wake up from her sleep. I think this part is the best chapter because its very touched, because when he leave his daughter his daughter is a child and when he meet again, his daughter is a young woman and he have a grandchild.
