mushroom farm^^

My college,Aminuddin Baki, organised a trip to a mushroom farm on 17th of August. It was a novel experience. We went to there by bus and about two hours to reach the destination,Sungai Bahak. We were taught every single process required to produce abalone mushroom. We began with mixing the medium to grow abalone mushroom and then we packed them into plastic bags. The 'mushroom bags'(as we call them)were put into a big steamer to kill the microorganisms that may exist in the medium. The last step involves put the mushroom seeds into the medium and covering it with a stopper.A period of 60 days is needed for them to spread and grow.Once the stopper is openend after this period, the abalone mushrooms can harvested after 3-4 days.An impotant we learnt is that abalone mushrooms cannot be watered but a cool and damp environment is needed for them to flourish. My friends and I went back with 4 mushrooms bags each and with memories of the warm and hospitable kampung people at the mushroom farm who shared their knowledge with us.
