The Jin Mao Building is an 88-story landmark supertall skyscraper in the Lujiazui area of the Pudong district of Shanghai, People's Republic of China. It contains offices and the Shanghai Grand Hyatt hotel. It was built in 1994 and finished in 1998. The building was fully operational in 1999. It was designed by Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and was built by the Shanghai Jian Gong Group, the first Chinese national construction group. The style of Jin Mao building is tradisional Chinese culture . Architects designed the building around the theme of the Chinese pagoda and the number eight.It is made by steel and glass . It was the tallest building in the People’s Republic of China, the fifth tallest in the world by roof height, the seventh tallest by pinnacle height and the tallest building in China.
